Decorating gingerbread men on Christmas Eve has been a favorite family holiday tradition since I was a little girl. My mom would prepare the dough the night before and bake the gingerbread boys and girls in the morning. After dinner, all the kids would gather around the table in excitement at the display of sugar set out before them. Small plastic zip top bags were filled with royal icing and a plethora of candy to decorate the cookie people was on full display. Now that I have my own little one running around, I hope to continue this beloved tradition in hopes that my son will do the same. This simple but fun baking project gets the whole family involved and makes the holiday feel that much more special.
